Why Buy the Ford Fusion?
The Ford Fusion is so many things at once that there's likely one just right for you. If you want a thrifty, eco-friendly vehicle, there's the Fusion Hybrid and electric Fusion Energi. If you want a speedy car, there's the Fusion Sport. Those who revel in luxury will like the Fusion Titanium. And those who just need an affordable but good car will be satisfied with the base Fusion S.
No matter which Fusion you buy, you get a safe and roomy four-door sedan with sporty suspension and sharp steering. It earned five stars on its government crash test. And it's got a quiet cabin and roomy interior for four adults or a couple with three kids. Additionally, lots of technology is available, if it's in your price range.
Which Fusion is Best?
With so many options and configurations, a book could be written about the various Fusions available. This four-door sedan has no fewer than six available engines and eleven trims to choose from. If we were to make a recommendation, and most critics agree, it would be the Fusion SE. It's a good middle ground between the base S model and the devilishly luxurious Titanium and the biggest bang for your buck. Right away you get 10-way power driver's seat, six-way power front passenger seat, proximity-key entry with push-button start, and SYNC 3 infotainment system. Definitely, spring for the optional 245-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, if it's in your price range.
Are Ford Fusions Good on Gas?
As you might imagine with six different engines and front- or all-wheel drive options, you'll find quite a range of gas mileages. On the low end is 17 city and 26 highway miles on the all-wheel drive with turbocharged engine configuration. On the better end, there's the 97 miles per gallon equivalent of the electric Ford Fusion Energi. If you want to be eco-friendly and save money in the process, get the electric or hybrid versions, but be prepared to sacrifice trunk space taken up by the electric engine.
Are Ford Fusions All-Wheel Drive?
On most trims, all-wheel drive is an option. If where you live has treacherous winter weather, all-wheel drive should be something you consider. Everyone else might enjoy the fuel economy of a front-wheel drive vehicle.
