With more power and greater capability, Ford has done well with its 2022 Super Duty Ford F-350. Combined with its rugged style and frame, Ford’s Super Duty truck has achieved best-in-class ratings. The 2021 Ram 3500 offers similar capabilities, but Ford delivers on all levels. Let Brighton Ford give you a ride and you will see for yourself.
Price, Engine, and Trim
Starting price for the Super Duty F-350 ranges from $36,715 for the XL to $86,510 for the Limited edition. There is no shortage of horsepower and torque with its three available V8 engines – in gasoline, a 6.2-liter V8 that makes 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque or the new 7.3-liter V8 that delivers 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. The third-choice power booster is optional in the F-350, but will surely catch your attention. The 6.7-liter with an updated V8 Power Stroke turbo diesel engine, makes 475 hp and a hefty 1,050 lb-ft of torque. Available with every engine choice is the all new, heavy-duty 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission that sends power to a permanent 4X4 AWD system. The new heavy-duty F-350 comes in 6 different trims- XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.
The Ram 3500 is now offered in six trim levels – the Tradesman, LongHorn, Lone Star, Limited, Laramie, Longhorn, and BigHorn. It is available as a crew cab, regular cab or mega cab with multiple configurations, two bed lengths in either 6.4 feet or 8 feet, and rear or four-wheel drive. Three engines are available for the Ram 3500. A 410 hp 6.4-liter V8 that makes 429 lb-ft of torque is standard power in all models. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel inline-six comes in two versions of diesel. One makes 370 horsepower and 850 lb ft of torque and the other is the 400 hp HO version that makes 1000 lb ft of torque. Both engines are matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel models are still noisier than the V8 and don’t handle quite as well around town. Pricing ranges from $37,440 to $69,570 spending on trim and cab configuration.

Tremor and Towing Options
We haven’t seen many significant upgrades for 2022 but if you’re new to the truck world or it’s been a while, here’s a little refresher on what changed in 2020. The first-ever Super Duty Tremor Off-Road Package upgrade came with a 2-inch front lift and shorter airdam, followed by 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires. It also included a returned suspension, upgraded shock absorbers, a locking rear differential, a limited-slip front differential, skid plates, a rock-crawl mode, and low speed cruise control. The Super Duty added two important options to its towing package – the improved Trailer Reverse Guidance, and the Pro-Trailer Backup Assist designed to make reversing a trailer easier. The strongest Super Duty can lug a massive 37,000 pounds with a fifth wheel and gooseneck hitch, and haul 7,850 pounds.
With the Cummins HO that offers 1000 lb of torque, the 2022 Ram 3500 has a towing capacity of 37,100 pounds and a maximum payload of 7,680 pounds. The standard V8 can tow 14,970 pounds and haul 4,644 pounds.
Overall
If you want a truck that can do just about anything, the F-350 has it all. It improves upon its already top-rated performance with an expanded line of available engines, taking towing and power to the next level. It also adds style to its toughness as you drive around town and off the road. Come take a look at Brighton Ford.
