The Ford EcoSport is one of the bestselling sport utility vehicles on the road. Why is that? You’ll get a good amount of cargo space, above-average height for a better driving vantage point, a capable towing capacity, all-wheel drive available on every trim level, and great smartphone connectivity. But we really think the Ford EcoSport is popular, in part, due to its look. I mean, that’s one handsome mug.
When considering which EcoSport to choose—after all, this subcompact SUV comes in four trim levels--there are a few things to ask yourself. Do you like yours affordable, feature-laden, sporty, or luxury? Because those desires can be found, respectively, on the S, SE, SES, and Titanium trim levels.
EcoSport S
The first slot is the EcoSport S, which we described as affordable—it is that—but that’s not to say that the S trim skimps on the features. How else can you explain its standard 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, rearview camera, cruise control, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, height-adjustable front seats, 60/40-split rear seats, Bluetooth, 4.2-inch central display screen, and six-speaker audio system with two USB ports?
EcoSport SE
The SE really does pile on the features, such as six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, fog lights, rear parking sensors, automatic climate control, moonroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-button start,SYNC 3 infotainment system, 6.5-inch touch screen, satellite radio, and six-speakers. Smartphone capability is optional on the S trim, but Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard here.
EcoSport SES
Sometimes you just have a need for speed. The SES is the only trim level that offers the 2.0-liter inline-4 with all-wheel drive standard. This little engine that could gets 166 horsepower and 149 pound-feet of torque, plenty of power in a vehicle this size. Along with its sport-tuned suspension, the SES is a fun little ride.
EcoSport Titanium
If you just want to relax into your small SUV, the Titanium is the luxurious contender to beat. Gape at its 17-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, body-colored bumpers, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery. Then turn on that 10-speaker B&O Play premium audio system with HD radio and away you go!
EcoSport Color Options
For 2019, the Ford EcoSport has a total of ten exterior color options. There’s everything from bubbly Blue Candy to mysterious Shadow Black. We like Canyon Ridge, an orange that would look great against a red rock background. Or there’s the Lightning Blue to really leave an instant impression! On the inside, there’s only Medium Light Stone cloth upholstery for the S trim, but grab the Ebony Black on upper trims for a darker and sportier look.
