The 2020 Ford 150 has you covered with its impressive towing and handling capabilities. This full-size pickup is not only tough, but modern and versatile. The 2020 Toyota Tundra is a full-size truck to compare, but is outdated and falls short in most categories. If you are in the Denver area, let Brighton Ford take you for a ride.
Design and Style
The 2020 Ford F-150 is comfortable and stylish as it performs. It provides plenty of head and legroom for everyone. The Regular Cab models seat up to three people. In the SuperCab and SuperCrew models, capacity jumps up to six. The Ford-150 front seats have comfortable and supportive seating while the SuperCab has adequate seats for adults and the SuperCrew models have plenty of room for back-seat passengers. The Ford F-150 doesn’t disappoint with its attractive features in its interior. It offers plenty of soft-touch material in the cabin, especially in the higher trims. Cloth upholstery is standard as well as convenient flip-up rear seats in the SuperCab and SuperCrew models. There are plenty of available luxury features including vinyl or leather upholstery, massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. There are trims to meet everyone’s needs. The Ford F-150 is offered in seven trims; the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and Raptor.
If you’re looking for the latest and greatest, you’re not going to find it with the Toyota Tundra. It's been 13 years since the Toyota Tundra got a complete redesign; in fact, most rivals have more comfortable interiors, smoother rides, and higher-end cabins. It comes in two cab styles: Double Cab and CrewMax; and it isn’t available without a back seat. The CrewCab Max will come with the smallest bed – 5 feet, 6 inches, and the Double Cab can be paired with the two longer beds – 6 feet, 6 inches and 8 feet, 1 inch. A three-person bench front seat is standard and it will seat up to six people in its cab, but if you opt for front bucket seats, it will drop the seating capacity to five. These seats are not for long trips as they aren’t comfortable or supportive, but there is plenty of space and rear legroom. Cloth upholstery is standard, as well as four-way manually adjustable front seats. Optional upgrades include vinyl or leather upholstery, a 10-way or 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a six-way power adjustable passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. There are six trims to choose: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and the 1794 Edition. The 1794 Edition is basically the same as the Platinum with a few different styles for the interior and exterior.
Power and Handling
New for the 2020 Ford F-150 is a 10-speed automatic transmission that is standard with all engines. Ford offers several powerful engine options. It delivers a 3.3-liter V6 engine with 290 horsepower and 265 pound-ft. of torque. This is plenty of power for the city and highway, but if you’d like some more power, Ford has you covered. Options include a 5.0-liter V8 that makes 395 horsepower and 400 pound-ft. of torque, a turbocharged Ecoboost 2.7-liter V6 that produces 325 horsepower and 400 pound-ft. of torque, and a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 375 horsepower and 470 pound-ft. of torque. There's also a 3.0-liter turbodiesel that will give you 250 horsepower and 440 pound-ft. of torque. All of these engines give the F-150 better towing and hauling capabilities than the base engine and help deliver better acceleration. The 375-horsepower turbocharged V6 provides the F-150’s highest towing capacity. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 13,200 pounds and has a maximum payload of 3,270 pounds. With its base engine and rear-wheel drive, the F-150 gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Those are some of the best ratings for full-size pickup trucks.
The 2020 Toyota Tundra is only available with a V8 engine. The 5.7-liter puts out 381 horsepower with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, but this powerful engine still can’t out-tow or haul as much as most other trucks in its class. The maximum towing capacity when properly equipped is 10,200, with a maximum payload capacity of 1,730. While the engine is its strong point, the transmission is not. Most rivals offer eight- or 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as additional powertrain choices, including diesel or turbocharged variants. Fuel economy is also a downside for the Tundra. It will give you an estimated 13/18 mpg in the city and on the highway. Four-wheel-drive models will give you a little less, with 17 mpg on the highway.

Also included are satellite radio, three USB ports, voice recognition, Bluetooth, a six-speaker stereo, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Its new smartphone features make it easy to use, but the on-screen buttons are a little small. Safety features include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high-beam headlights, and adaptive cruise control. The Tundra has one of the highest base starting prices for a full-size pickup truck. The base SR starts out at $33,425 and ranges to $48,625 for the Platinum and 1794 Edition.
