The 2020 Ford Fusion and 2020 Buick Regal Sportback are two midsize sedans that offer similar style, but there are some differences that will make the Ford Fusion your choice. Come check it out at Brighton Ford.
Design and Safety Features
The 2020 Ford Fusion is an appealing four-door sedan that offers plenty of modern safety and technology features. This mid-size sedan provides comfortable and supportive seating for five and has enough space for most adults. It’s standard Ford CoPilot 360 protection package, with blind-spot monitoring, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, rear view camera, and forward automatic emergency braking has made this model a step above most; all while retaining its affordable base price. Its upscale cabin design that remains quiet at highway speeds, makes it a strong competitor in its class. The well-weighted steering and agility lets it tackle twists and turns with composure; and you won’t have to sacrifice comfort with Fusion’s smooth ride and comfortable seating. You have four options to choose from with the Fusion: S, SE, SEL, and titanium. All provide plenty of technology at a good value. The Fusion features a large trunk that helps you transport everything you need.
The 2020 Buick Regal Sportback combines the aesthetics of a sedan with the utility of a hatchback. It seats five on standard cloth seats. Hard plastic surfaces and cheap-feeling upholstery make for a lesser quality. A leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery and heated front seats are available. The GS trim is the only trim with a flat-bottom steering wheel and ventilated and massaging front seats. It’s sold in five trim levels, with each trim level adding more features: Regal (1SV), Preferred, Essence, Avenir, and GS. It comes with a rearview camera, with optional safety features that include lane change alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and forward collision warning. The Sportback has 31.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 60.7 cubic feet behind the front seats.
Entertainment System
The base Fusion comes well-equipped with voice-activated SYNC interface and Ford’s MyKey. Available features include an excellent user-friendly SYNC 3 infotainment system, an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, two USB ports, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a six-speaker audio system, an 11-speaker premium audio system, and a 12-speaker Sony audio system. These features come standard in the trims above the base S trim.
Standard entertainment features included with the Sportback includes a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though its infotainment system is a bit dated compared to its competitors. Bluetooth, a seven-speaker sound system, a Wi-Fi hot spot and four USB ports are also standard. Available upgrades include navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio, an eight-speaker Bose stereo, and a wireless charging device.
Price, Fuel, and Range
The Fusion pricing begins at an impressive $23,170 for the Fusion S to the top of the line Fusion Titanium starting at $34,450. The Fusion gives you three four-cylinder-engine options: The 175-horsepower base, a 181-horsepower turbo-four, and a 245-horsepower turbo-four. The turbocharged engines make this midsize sedan quicker and fun to drive. For a midsize sedan, the Fusion gets the best gas mileage at 23/34 mpg in the city and highway, when equipped with the 181 hp turbocharged engine.
The Sportback starts off at $25,370 for the 1SV and ranges to a starting price of $39,070 for the GS. Most Regals have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This makes the vehicle accelerate swiftly, but the nine-speed automatic transmission can be slow to downshift when needed. The Regal GS engine features a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower and 282-pound feet of torque. The Sportback gets an estimated 22/32 mpg in the city and on the highway, which is below average for its class.
Overview
The 2020 Ford Fusion is a solid car that brings a lot to the table, including comfortable seats and power at a good price. The 2020 Buick Regal Sportback while similar in design, can’t match the Fusion’s well-rounded nature.
