If transporting people and cargo is your business, the 2022 Transit Connect Passenger Wagon and 2022 Ram Promaster offer an alternative to full-size commercial vans. Similar in design, the two have differences that you might like to note. Let’s look at the comparisons.
2020 Design
The Ford Transit Connect is built for comfort and service and is engineered to withstand the severity of everyday on-the-job transit. Squeeze into tight spaces easily with its compact size and maneuverability. Available in both cargo and passenger van configurations, the Transit Connect has a variety of options. While this van is an option for business and utility, it certainly is well balanced between commercial and passenger needs. Transit Connect has a stylish design that stands out from the boxier profile of the Ram Promaster. The Transit’s modern design offers comfortable front seating with additional amenities, including two-lengths, seven-passenger seating and leather upholstery which is not offered in the Ram Promaster.
While the Ram Promaster certainly has the power and design to meet the needs of a compact commercial utility van; its only available with 5-passenger seating or as a 2-passenger cargo van. Its tall, narrow profile requires taking turns with some caution. This, and its limited safety features and noisy cabin are certainly reasons not to consider this van for an alternative to a passenger SUV.
Price and Features
Starting price for the Transit Connect is an affordable $27,020 for the XL and ranges to $32,250 for the Titanium, with an estimated 24 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. Standard features now available in the Ford Transit include automatic headlamps with configurable running lights, as well as rain-sensing windshield wipers to make your drive a little easier. Also, rearview camera, forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking are standard. Bluetooth is standard and Satellite Radio is also available.
Pricing for the Ram Promaster starts at $30,590 and ranges to $43,000 for the 3500 window van. EPA estimates are currently not available but Car and Driver has reported 14 mpg from their test track. No frills for this basic standard equipment, which merits its lower price. Standard equipment includes the Uconnect infotainment system with a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, and a rearview camera. Rear parking sensors are optional. Also standard are keyless entry, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, and a front overhead storage bin.
Overall
Both the Transit Connect and Ram Promaster will meet your needs in transporting cargo, but for its safety, design, and comfort when transporting passengers, Ford’s Transit Connect meets the criteria for a practical, compact passenger and cargo van.
