Design
The Ford-150 will offer more comfort and premium materials throughout its cabin, along with more convenience features that include more storage. With an upgraded interior for 2021, the Ford F-150 is your home on the road. It will offer several new functions on its tailgate to boost its usability on job sites, with cleats on either side of the tailgate to tie down long items and pockets to attach clamps. Additionally, the 10-speed automatic shift lever can be folded flat with the center console to create a large flat workspace. It also can be ordered with fold-flat front seats to provide space for sleeping. Three cab configurations will be offered in both long and short bed lengths. The four-door crew-cab body style will be the most spacious and family friendly of the trims.
The 2021 Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that has space for up to six passengers. It features two cab configurations and two bed lengths: Quad-Cab or Crew-Cab. The Quad Cab comes with a long bed, measuring 6 feet, 4 inches and the Crew Cab has the option of the long bed or a short bed (5 feet, 7 inches). The Ram comes in seven trims: the base Tradesman, Big Horn, the Rebel, the Laramie, LongHorn, Limited, and a new for 2021 off-road-focused TRX. A Tilt and telescoping steering wheel and 18-inch steel wheels are standard features, with each model adding more options. Leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, side steps, 60/40-split folding rear seat, power mirrors and power rear windows are available options.
Power and Pricing
For the first time ever, the F-150 will also be offered with a hybrid powertrain that consists of a 3.5L twin-turbo V-6, a 35-kW electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It will offer 430-hp and 570 lb-ft of torque, as well as give you up to 700 miles of driving range per tank of gas. The 2021 F-150 will be available with a 3.3L V-6 that give you 290 hp; a 5.0L V8 that will give you 400 hp; a 325-hp twin turbocharged 2.7L V6; a twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 that will give you 400-hp; and a 400-hp 3.0L diesel V6. They are all paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Buyers will be able to choose between rear-and four-wheel drive with any of the F-150’s powertrains. A maximum towing capacity of at least 13,000 pounds and a payload capacity that ranges from 1,840 to 3,250 pounds will be expected when properly equipped. Six trim levels will be available: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Estimated pricing will start at $30,000 for the XL and range to $70,000 for the Limited.
The Ram 1500 has four available engines – a 3.6-liter engine with 305 hp and 269 lb.-ft of torque, a 5.7-liter V8 with 395hp and 410 lb.-ft of torque, a diesel-powered turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 260 hp and 480 lb.-ft of torque, and a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces 702 hp and 650 lb.-ft of torque and only comes with the new TRX. Rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is optional. Its towing power reaches up to 12,750 lbs when properly equipped. The Ram starts at $33,000 for the base price and ranges to six figures for the TRX.
Safety and Tech
Ford will offer plenty of standard and available safety features, with each trim level offering more. It will include a rear-facing camera for monitoring a trailer while on the go, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, available lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Ford features smart new tech on an 8.0-inch infotainment display, with an updated version of the Sync 4 system that will provide traffic and weather updates, and onboard telematics to help track fleet vehicle location. It will also provide over-the-air updates for future software releases. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Navigation and Sirius XM radio will be available options; as well as a 12.0-inch touchscreen display and a premium stereo system from Bang & Olufsen.
The Ram comes standard with a 5-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker stereo. Available options in higher trims include an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Navigation, satellite radio, and a wireless charging pad are also available. A Trailer sway damping that adjusts vehicle brakes comes with the entry-level Tradesman, and an electronic locking rear axle, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available. An Advanced Safety Group option package will get you adaptive cruise control, surround-view camera system, and lane keeping assist.
