An all-new midsize crossover SUV, the 2023 Ford Fusion Active, is on its way! Based on the classic Fusion station wagon, the Fusion Active puts a modern spin on family transportation. Before it gets here, our preview will help you get an idea of what to expect.
Will there be a Ford Fusion for 2023?
Not exactly. The Ford Fusion Active may borrow a name and some styling elements from the discontinued Fusion station wagon, but it’s actually more of a crossover SUV than a car. Compared to Fusions of old, the Fusion Active will feature a raised ride height and a modern wagon body style.
How will the 2023 Ford Fusion Active drive?
To be completely transparent, no one knows much about the Fusion Active besides what it looks like from the outside! However, we have heard a few rumors as to what will be under the hood. Some say that the Fusion Active will feature either a hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain (or both). Others say that Ford’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which delivers impressive turbocharged power, will be found under the Fusion Active hood.
While we don’t know the details yet, we can bet that the Fusion Active will have a number of engine options. The list will allow you to choose the level of power and fuel economy that you prefer. Whichever engines Ford decides to stow under the hood, the Fusion Active will likely use a 10-speed automatic transmission to power the front wheels. Alternatively, all-wheel drive may be standard equipment. (If not, all-wheel drive will almost certainly be optional.)
Which features will be available with the 2023 Ford Fusion Active?
The Fusion Active’s interior is still a big unknown! However, taking Ford’s other midsize crossovers into account, you can bet that the cabin will be roomy and versatile. The cabin will likely feature a standard digital gauge cluster that you can configure as you wish. And Ford’s latest infotainment system, SYNC 4, will also probably be standard, giving you a big touchscreen interface and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.
We also expect a plethora of driver safety aids. These days, most Ford models come standard with the Ford Co-Pilot360 package, which includes blind-spot monitoring and forward collision mitigation. And we hope to see the new BlueCruise system in the list of options. This technology offers hands-free driving on pre-mapped divided highways.
When can I order the 2023 Ford Fusion Active?
Great question! But no one knows for sure when this all-new wagon-style crossover will be available. However, as soon as we learn more, we’ll update this space accordingly!
