The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse series is on its way, part of the redesigned Mustang lineup that will combine iconic style with modern racing technology. If you’re looking for the ultimate track star, you just might find it in one of the Mustang Dark Horse models. There will be six models in the series, starting with the Mustang Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R track-only sports coupes.
What is the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse?
For the 2024 model year, Ford is introducing a brand new generation of Mustangs. These redesigned models will include the new Dark Horse series, the first performance-based Mustangs in more than two decades.
Under their hoods, you’ll find a high-output version of Ford’s iconic 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine. These models also deliver improved aerodynamics, track-ready hardware, and race-friendly tuning. There will be a total of six Dark Horse Mustangs, and the Mustang Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R will be released before the rest.
How much horsepower will the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse generate?
Although it’s based on the upcoming redesigned Mustang GT, the Mustang Dark Horse will be much more track-ready than its GT counterparts. In addition to the usual Mustang performance features (which are impressive on their own), the Dark Horse will add distinct styling, a high-output version of the 5.0-liter V8 engine, and race-friendly technology. It’s also the only Mustang to offer optional carbon-fiber wheels and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tires.
All of that being said, however, we still don’t know how much power the Mustang Dark Horse engine will deliver. But Ford says we can expect around 500 horses!
So far, these are the specs Ford has released for its upcoming Mustang Dark Horse:
- Enhanced 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine (with around 500 horsepower)
- Tremec six-speed manual transmission
- Optional 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
