2006-2010 Ford Explorer
While this Ford Explorer might look completely different than the Explorer we have grown used to, it has lots of features to love. Early Explorer generations were based off of the Ranger truck frame, and this means that this generation is extremely tough and rugged. This Explorer is also much larger than the current model, and has significant cargo space. This is quite possibly the largest version of the Explorer and will be great for families who love adventure. This is one of the truest and toughest SUVs that has been around. Many models of this generation have been known to last until the speedometer hits 300,000 miles.
2011 – 2019
This generation of the Explorer is what overtook the world, and became one of the most popular SUVs on the road. The SUV did lose a little weight in this generation, the Explorer changed from being built on a truck platform to a standard car frame. This meant that gas mileage drastically increased and the SUV also had a much sleeker more athletic look. The standard configuration is front wheel drive and the largest engine is a V6 and Ford’s EcoBoost engine series was introduced.
2020 – Present
The current Ford Explorer demands attention, this SUV is sleek, lean, and has an incredible road presence. Friends and family are sure to be impressed by a Ford Explorer and you are sure to turn heads on the road. The Ford Explorer might not be built specifically for off-roading anymore, but this extremely modern and comfortable generation of the SUV is the ultimate road vehicle. With upper models having quad-exhausts and quick get up, this Explorer is also extremely fun. While 2023 models can be pricey, the current generation can be found at competitive used car prices.
